Depends what you mean with "low cost". You can book a room, for about $ 1200 in south Redondo Beach, a relatively nice area, near the beach, near the airport, etc. It is not very expensive in the area. You can also live in the Valley (Van Nuys, etc.) for hundreds less, but the travel and not too strong. Check Craigslist.
